Moving Up or Moving Out?

Being ready isn’t enough; you have to be prepared for a promotion or any other significant change.

There are three different kinds of people moving our economy along. There are employees, entrepreneurs, and investors. Most of us know the employee role like the backs of our hand. Some of us desire to move into the entrepreneurial role and most of us only dream of becoming investors.

My challenge to you today is that as an employee you begin to think like an entrepreneur. Whether your goal is to be a more promotable employee or a real life entrepreneur, you would do well to begin to act and feel like an entrepreneur.

This means that you are not afraid to make decisions, not afraid to take the bull by the horns, do things that “aren’t your job,” volunteer when volunteers are needed, bring ideas to the table, mind the budget, hold realistic expectations, believe that change is good, be a team player, and never give up.

I hope that you can see that such a change in our outlook can only serve us well.  Whether moving up or moving out into the entrepreneurial world, the sooner that we can make this shift in thinking the sooner we can achieve our desired outcomes.
