We all get so caught up in the moment of what we’re doing every day, it’s hard to hit that reset button and get pulled away from all that and see life from a different perspective.

Have you ever had one of those dreams that’s so real you just know that you have to wake up because you’re going to freak out if you don’t? Last night I was locked up in a church with some freaky cult that was collecting and folding clothes for a charity. When I asked who the clothes went to they told me, with eyes wide open and in a chanting tone, that they didn’t know. That was enough to send my bells and whistles into a frenzy and my auto-wake up from this freaking dream started to go off.
Of course, I didn’t get fully awake before I was being chased down a lonely sun-drenched meadow by ladies in long dresses chanting something like, we can’t let him get away! It wasn’t until I came to some giant Jack and the Bean Stalk sized door that I was able to shake the would be head removing crazed cultists on my tail. Once I was beyond that giant door I felt the warm embrace of safety as I came out of deep slumber and into my present reality…or should I say perspective?
As we journey through our careers, business lives, marriages, and so forth we can get bogged down in the day to day realities and fail to see the opportunities around us. We fail to see our own value to our companies, our businesses, our communities, our families…ok you get the idea.
When we dream we escape our present reality and begin to see things from another perspective, and this happens without our consent as our mind sorts out the day’s happenings in order to store that which is useful and needed. These dreams feel so real because it is difficult for our minds to know what is real and what isn’t.
Imagine the good we would do for ourselves if we could change our perspective on purpose! What could you imagine for yourself if you allowed yourself to dream a little dream on purpose? To envision the life that you desire, with the person you desire, and the career that you desire! It’s ok to have desires…I hereby give you permission to have desires.
Frankly, we are only limited by our imaginations. Jen Sincero in her book, You’re a Baddass, asserts that we can have the life that we envision because we presently have the life that we have envisioned. Kinda deep no? We have what we have created through our own desires and perspective to this point in our life. If you desire something different then change your thoughts, change your perspective.
It’s time to wake up from the dull day to day-dreaminess that is life and change perspective…a perspective limited only by your imagination.
