Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit.
Have you ever said something and later thought about what it was that you said? Was it an appropriate comment or thought? Maybe it caused you to think deeper into why you said it and what it really meant?
Writing a blog 5 days a week will have you often wondering why it is that you wrote a particular comment and what it really means to your readers. Such was the case for me all day today because Yesterday’s Post did just that for me. Specifically, the line where I wrote, “How do I tell professional people how to live their lives and manage their careers?”
If I’m completely honest with myself and with you, I really don’t have the power to tell anyone how to live their life or manage their career. Only you have that power. You can decide to take my advice or use it as a building block to establish your own theory of how things should be accomplished in your life, but I do not have the power to change you, that power belongs to you.
Changing one’s life trajectory and reaching for the stars is a topic worth talking about and it is something exhilarating, but it is not easy in practice. It takes effort, commitment, courage, strength, desire, hope, and the willingness to move forward despite all of these things not being perfectly aligned.
Can we change? Can we achieve? Yes, I believe that we can, that we should, and that we would be better served by doing so. I’m grateful for all of you who read MetroFactor.net on a daily basis because you have shown me that we can achieve our goals if we just start doing.
MetroFactor.net has been a labor of change not so much for you, but for me. It has allowed me to coach myself, to teach myself, to motivate myself, to grow myself, and to guide myself through the changes I know must take place within me. I just shared my journey with you and will continue to do so as long as you’ll come back.
Yesterday I told you that I want to write a book. I want to tell you what steps I took today to help achieve that goal. I found a website where I can distribute my book, I pulled out a rough outline that I made last year, and I reviewed the outline to see if it was still relevant. You know what I found out? I had more to add to that outline, so now I have more content for my book!
I share this with you because these are the baby steps I keep telling you about. This morning, at my regular 9-5 job, I allowed myself to think what it would be like to be a published author. I have to tell you that it brought a smile to my face and motivation to my soul. It also brought forth a thought that I want to leave with you.
Every person who has ever had success, every singer, writer, inventor, athlete, social mover, and anyone who is anyone, started just like you and me. They were just as unknown and unaware of what the future felt like as we are today. The difference is that they began to walk the path to dream fulfillment, and somewhere along the way they found it. That’s it, that’s the only difference.
I believe that if we will simply begin to walk the path of our choosing, with desire, diligence, real effort, and an unwavering belief that something good will come of it, that is exactly what will come to pass.
