Mankind are governed more by their feelings than by reason.
In her 2015 book, Presence, Amy Cuddy shares her research into our emotions, actions, and body langauge.
Her research, in a nutshell, reveals that we’re not scowling because we’re angry, we’re angry because we’re scowling. We’re not smiling because we’re happy, but we’re happy because we’re smiling.
Our body language comes before our emotions, and emotions drive our actions.
We don’t notice our body language because we don’t feel body language but only the feelings that follow. Therefore, our feelings get our attention.
Fighting negative feelings? Adopt positive body language until your feelings follow.
Learning these techniques can help you become the best version of yourself.
I highly recomend Amy Cuddy’s book – Presence – if you want to learn more.
